Aquino's aviation sector proposal welcomed by PAL

Aquino aviationPresident Benigno Aquino III's vision for a strong Philippine-based aviation industry was declared by Philippine Airlines.

PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Jaime J. Bautista said, "We firmly believe this is indispensable to the development of Philippine tourism, trade and economic progress."

In the Philippines death toll from dengue reaches 534

Philippines dengueIt was stated by officials on Wednesday that this year the death toll from dengue fever in the Philippines has reached 534. And this is a 40 per cent rise from last year during the same period which is a cause of concern.

The Department of Health informed that 383 people died of the disease between January 1 and September 4 in 2009.

Job losses feared by Dubai

In order to help overseas Filipino workers who perhaps are affected by the debt crisis in Dubai, the government of Philippines will soon come up with a contingency plan.

Susan Ople of the Blas F. Ople Policy Center said in a press statement, "We are of course hoping that the debt crisis will soon be over but given the size of the Filipino community in Dubai, we must be prepared for any eventuality."

Ople told that the employment of approximately 250,000 Filipino workers could be at risk by the crisis.
