Samsung Engineering wins order from Saudi Arabia-based National Industrial Gases

Samsung Engineering Co., South Korea’s largest plant builder, has won a contract from National Industrial Gases Co. (NIGC), a unit of the state-run Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) to build a chemical plant in eastern Saudi Arabia. 

Under the arrangement, Samsung will engage in the whole process of the project ranging from licensing and design to procurement and construction. The plant, which will be located at NIGC's facility in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, will be completed by 2011.

Aptec arm sign ‘Distribution Deal’ with Dell

Aptec, one of the largest technology distributors, has notified that its Saudi branch, Aptec Saudi has signed distribution agreement with Dell in the Kingdom. 

Under the arrangement, Aptec Saudi will offer Dell's commercial line of products to its resellers in Saudi Arabia. The range of products includes PowerEdge servers, Dell/EMC and EqualLogic storage solutions, Latitude laptops, Precision workstations and OptiPlex desktops.

According to the August 2009 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report, UAE is home to nearly 50% of the hotel development pipeline for the Middle East/Africa (MEA).

The total pipeline includes 468 hotels comprising 126,464 rooms, out of which 59,543 rooms (47%) are located in the UAE.

The second largest number of rooms in the pipeline was recorded by Saudi Arabia, accounting for 11,110.

Mobily announces expansion of its WiMax Broadband Service in the region

Mobily, the largest provider of mobile broadband in Saudi Arabia, has announced an expansion of its WiMax broadband service to Jubaul, Hafr Al-Batin, Sakaka, Ar'ar and Khafji.

The company's expansion comes at a time of runaway demand for its wireless broadband services. Earlier, Mobily has introduced the service to the major cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Dammam, Hafuf and Al-Mobarraz.

A company official stated that Mobily is enhancing the service and increasing bandwidth in areas already covered.

Ethiad Etisalat inks ‘MoU’ with Nasdaq-listed Qualcomm

Saudi Arabia-based Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nasdaq-listed Qualcomm Incorporated a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies, products and services.

Under the agreement, Qualcomm will provide training on a variety of wireless network operations and technologies.

Abdul Latif Jameel inks pact with General Automotive

Abdul Latif Jameel Co (ALJ), the exclusive dealer of Toyota cars in the Saudi Arabia, has entered into an agreement with General Automotive Company (Autostar) for the supply of 4,700 Toyota 2010 model vehicles of various types.

The company claims that the agreement is the largest deal signed between the two firms over the past 10 years.

Recently, Abdul Latif Jameel has signed a similar contract with the United International Transportation Co. (Budget) for the supply of 5,000 Toyota cars in 2010.

Saudi Arabia Ministry signs deal worth SR 314 million with six local firms

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture and Information has informed that it has signed agreement worth SR 314 million with six local firms for establishing TV and Radio centers across the kingdom. 

The contracts include setting up three TV and Radio centers in Hail, Tabuk and Jizan, in addition to 10 digital TV broadcast stations in Al-Henakeyah, Msegeed, Al-Ahmar,Tarabah, Al-Harjah, Balqarn, Ba Al-Asmar, Hobouna and Al-Mandaq.
