As per recent information, it has been revealed that the troubled ex-AFL star Ben Cousins has apparently been admitted to one of Perth’s mental health hospitals.
However, it is quite evident that he has been taken to the psychiatric unit of the mental health for his person safety and wellbeing. Yesterday, he was driven by an ambulance to the mental health unit of the Joondalup Health Campus following a long-drawn-out psychosis allied to his extended warfare with drug addiction.
The doctors taking care of Cousins apparently decided the move for his betterment as the 33 years old ex-AFL star showed no indications in terms of health even after four days of hospitalization at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. Since Monday, he was there following an incident in which he collapsed and hurt his head at a drug rehabilitation clinic.
He was indisputably one of the most talented and famous AFL players for the West Coast Eagles, for whom he contributed gloriously in winning the Brownlow Medal in 2005.
He also played in their premiership side during 2006 ahead of an indecent in which the club sacked during the fall of 2007, reason being the same that is troubling the great AFL player even today: drug addiction.
Over allegations of drug addiction, the AFL suspended him for one year. They alleged that Cousins had brought the game into disgrace and had tarnished the repute of the AFL. Later in 2010, Cousins ended his playing days with the Richmond Tigers.
In September, Cousins and his partner Maylea Tinecheff welcomed their first baby named Bobby Ernest Cousins. Experts taking care of Cousins have claimed that it seems like he was showing some sort of paranoid behavior during the course of treatment after hurting his head in a collapse.
Cousins was one of the most decorated West Coast Eagles players, winning the 2005 Brownlow Medal and playing in their 2006 premiership side before the club sacked him in late 2007 because of his drug addiction.
He was suspended for 12 months by the AFL for bringing the game into disrepute before ending his playing career with the Richmond Tigers in 2010.
