Cheerleading Contest Suspected for Spreading Illness Outbreak

Cheerleading ContestAs per recent reports, it has been revealed that the state Department of Health (DoH) is probing over the backgrounds of illness spate which was apparently born during a statewide cheerleading contest that was organized in Everett during the last weekend.

Washington state health authorities are scrutinizing the reports of an intestinal disease that has apparently affected around 19 groups which took part in the recent state cheerleading competition in Everett.

Earlier on Tuesday, Donn Moyer, the Spokesperson for State Health Department claimed that the disease commonly entail symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea. In the meantime, reports have also revealed that a number of individuals have been hospitalized in the region, though the present condition of their health is yet to be revealed.

While expressing his views regarding the progress been made so far in investigating the cause of the illness that has bothered several people since the least weekend, a Spokesperson from the Health Department, Tim Church, said that probes are still on and it seems like the illness has invaded more number of people than believed as the event was attended by in excess of 3000 people.

“We’re reaching out to try and get a sense of the scope of it, and get word out to folks ... It’s very likely that there are people out there who are sick and don’t know it’s something other people have”, he added.

Till Tuesday, about 19 in 50 participating squads had reported symptoms related to the same outbreak. But still, the exact number of people affected by the disease is not clear.

In the meantime, health officials are doing all what they could in order to find the root cause of the illness, and they are getting significant support from the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) in figuring out the present condition.
