Cancer during Pregnancy Can Now be Cured

PregnancyGiving a sigh of relief to a large number of women all over the world who even fearing from the thought of conceiving because they are suffering from cancer, a recently concluded research, which was carried out by researchers from the London-based University College Hospital, has revealed that women can now be safely undergo treatment for cancer even while they are in their pregnancy days.

The statements will also get the monkey off the shoulders of women who are pregnant and suffering from some form of cancer. During the course of study, doctors have claimed that infant subjected to chemotherapy medicines while still in the mother’s womb will be unbothered by the effect and will therefore grow and develop normally.

The research got a warm welcome from mother Caroline Swain whose son Luke was an important part of the research. Caroline was suffering from breast cancer while she was pregnant.

While expressing her opinion regarding the findings of the study, and what all consequences it may lead to in the time to follow, Caroline expressed: “I think the research is fantastic. It's wonderful for families in this predicament. It will be very reassuring for them. There are enough horrible things to be worrying about with the diagnosis of cancer”.

As per reports, in about one out of 1,000 pregnancies, the woman is expected to be screened for cancer, and the frequency of cancer among pregnant women is rapidly increasing by almost 2.5% on a yearly basis.

But still, it has been revealed that standard examining of 70 kids whose mums were offered treatment for breast cancer during their pregnancy days have clearly highlighted that they had no long-term health adversities.

Belgian researchers, who made their study available in the recent edition of the medical journal Lancet Oncology, claimed that kids who were pre-natally contracted by chemotherapy medicines tend to fair as well as their normal counterparts.
