In an immensely strange and frightening disclosure, it has been revealed recently that a number of sections of a hospital based in Melbourne's south-east had to be evacuated following an incident in which the people in different wards of the hospital were found complaining of a strange chemical smell. Over fears of odd smell, the maternity ward of the hospital was evacuated quickly.
As part of the evacuation process, 17 kids, 13 out of which were hospitalized under special care, had to be shifted to other wings of the Dandenong Hospital following the detection of bad odour in the special care nursery earlier during the day.
While expressing the state of affairs prevailing in the hospital at the moment, along with shedding light on the outcomes revealed by investigations being carried to find the fault that led to leakage of a bad odour, a hospital spokesperson claimed that the patients were quickly shifted to other safer wings as soon as the bad odour smell was reported.
He further added that, “It has all gone well. They were relocated smoothly”. As per recent reports, the Country Fire Authority (CFA) is probing the matter in order to reach to the basis of the bad odour and what caused it.
A CFA spokeswoman earlier claimed that initial inspections have been done, and no hazardous chemical or material was detected as such. In this regard, a CFA scientific officer is going through inspections for the sake of getting on with the investigation. During the probe, a number of dangerous chemicals and materials have been tested at the hospital.
In this regard, Mark Kennedy, operations officer for CFA, claimed that a variety of dissimilar chemical detectors will have to be employed for the sake of settling on whether or not there had been any kind of chemical spill.
