Kodak Ceases Digital Camera Production

KodakIt has been revealed in a new report that Kodak would not be manufacturing pocket video cameras, digital cameras and digital picture frames from this year. It is being said that the company is now focusing on advertising its other products, for which it has decided to cease the production of cameras.

As per the report, Kodak is engaging itself in manufacturing new cameras, with which it would not be possible to capture pleasurable moments. It has also been found that it has been trying to draw attention of its customers towards other gadgets manufactured by it. These include online and retail-based printing, desktop printers and batteries as well as camera accessories.

Noting down the company’s remarkable place in photographic history, employee Charles Ezaki at Central Camera Co. in Chicago's Loop was found amazed to hear Kodak’s decision. He said startlingly that the decision was a big thing to consider as the company had been manufacturing cameras since hundreds of years.

It has further been found that Kodak, which was the foundation of George Eastman, was popular throughout the world for its Brownie and Instamatic cameras as well as yellow-and-red film boxes in the 1880s. But, it had failed to beat the Japanese creations which showed great development with introduction of digital technology.

The report further reveals that Kodak now is signifying that it might expand the licensing of its name to other companies. Along with it, it has declared that it would continue to sell film, though the market for the same has been continuing to go down. Besides, it has also told that it would resume its services of providing technical support for the discontinued products and would be honouring product warranties as well.

"Business is not what it used to be, but we still get a lot of students … some commercial photographers", affirmed Oson Chin, owner of CSW Film Systems.
