Solicitor Claims Baby Death Could have been Averted

Scarborough-District-HospitalThe sad demise of an infant following an incident in which hospital authorities allegedly went through a chain of mistakes was by and large “a preventable tragedy”. The statements have been released recently by a solicitor.

For the errors made by hospital authorities during the treatment of the baby, Scott and Sarah Wallace have been provided with reimbursement following the tragic incident in which their son Harry died a few hours after his birth in September 2009 at Scarborough District General Hospital.

Their allegations for medical neglect were resolved with the North East Yorkshire Healthcare and Scarborough NHS Trust after officials carried out an extended probe which resulting in disclosing that the mistake was made on part of hospital officials.

The investigation delivered an absolutely independent report which shed light on various errors made on part of the hospital authorities which led to the death of Harry soon after his birth. Allegations also included the point that the parents of the baby were not informed about their baby struggling for his survival, and the mother claimed that she was not even provided with a chance to hold her son before he was no more.

While expressing his opinion regarding the entire case of negligence by hospital officials, along with mentioning the unending spell of sorrows that came the way of the baby’s parents due to his tragic demise, Chris Moore, the solicitor from Mrs. Wallace from the Neil Hudgell Solicitors, claimed in a statement that, “The evidence clearly shows that there is a strong balance of probabilities that if Harry had been given the appropriate treatment he would have survived. This was a preventable tragedy compounded by the lack of communication with the parents”.

In the meantime, it has been claimed in a statement released by the NHS trusts of Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare that a resolution had been reached in the case of the baby’s death.
