Breast Cancer Screening Commercials In New Zealand

Breast-CancerIt has been revealed in a report recently that commercials regarding breast cancer awareness have been on air since February 12 in New Zealand. The commercials have been found to be straight-talking about the disease so as to encourage early diagnosis of the same and reduce mortality rate.

As per the report, the television commercials are being fronted by Ella Henry and Whetu Fala, who are popular as straight-talkers. The two famous personalities have been backing the ads after visiting several women and men and talking to them about breast screenings. This is so because breast cancer has been found to be the most common cancer in the country and early diagnosis can be the best measure to kill the disease, told Dr. Diana Balog, Clinical Director for BSM.

Both of the personalities recommended people that breast screening is highly important as the same helps in several ways. Breast Screen Midland (BSM) has been anticipating that the commercials would undoubtedly encourage women in Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Lakes District Health Boards to go for breast screening.

It is being suggested by commercials that women should undergo breast screenings every two years. The commercials have used humour in order to motivate women that they take appointments for breast screenings at regular intervals. Free screening mammograms are also being offered in Hamilton and Tauranga.

Ella and Whetu have told about the benefits of getting screening done, affirming that with the help of screening, tiny cancers developing in breast may be caught. They also told that it helps to detect cancer at an early stage, which further aids to fight the disease.

Further, it has been revealed by National Screening Unit manager Jacqui Akuhata Brown that a new television campaign has been organized that targets Maori and Pacific women to reduce the gap realized in number of screenings in the past two years.
