Telecom major du has announced to extend its mobile network by completely covering prestigious Burj Dubai, the world's tallest tower in the Arabian city. The move would enable the prospective residents to avail du IPTV services, 24Mbps broadband, voice telephony and other such services.
The firm has set a target to expand its telecom services by covering all major UAE landmarks and 99 percent residential places of the areas by the end of year. It has been upgrading communication network and equipment for improving mobile coverage in the region using the state-of-the-art technology from companies including Nokia Siemens, Cisco and Huawei.
The firm currently covers the Downtown Burj Dubai area through its 2G and 3.75G capabilities. Hatem Bamatraf, SVP network development, du, said, "Covering the tallest building in the world with our state-of-the-art network is a significant achievement for us and a major step forward for mobility users."
The firm informed in a press statement that people visiting Burj Dubai would have a unique experience of making voice and video calls through high end telecom services. All areas such as lobbies and elevators would be provided telecom access before Burj Dubai's opening on January 4.
