As per a recent research, which has been published in Journal Nature, it has been revealed that a group of researchers from United States has detected a link between abnormal heartbeat and circadian rhythm.
It is the one of its kind research, which has unveiled molecular link between biological clock also known as circadian rhythm and abnormal heart beta. It has revealed that sudden waking in the morning is linked to increased rate of heart attack and has also been successful in knowing its reason.
The study researchers have found a protein known as Klf15, which they say that it is linked between circadian rhythms and heart attacks. People, who have been lacking the protein or have it in excess amount, are at great risk to suffer heart attack.
In order to prove that the study researchers conducted a research in which they genetically modified two mice. In one mouse they reduced the protein and in the other one they increased the protein level to a great extent.
Assessment report revealed that too much or very less of Klf15 is risky and can cause heart attack. Another thing that has been revealed through the research is that the protein not only is linked with the body clock but also controls another protein which is control electric current that flows to the heart muscle.
If the protein is not stable then it causes electrical instability, which further disrupts the working of heart and will create problem in the pumping chamber. In severe cases, the heart loses to beat and pump enough blood, which is required for the functioning of the body.
"It is the first example of a molecular mechanism for the circadian change in susceptibility to cardiac arrhythmias”, said the study researchers.
