Scientists from Tokyo University are on their way to discover an effective and natural way of growing hair on the bald scalps. Stem Cell Magic; yes, scientists have used stem cells to create follicles that grew when rooted over the bald body of mice.
This was a two-in-one experiment, because with the success of it over mice, scientists have discovered an exclusive way of growing hair and making it pigmented. Now they are planning to apply this stem cell application over men in another three years of time. And if all goes well, then within this decade, the procedure will come into use.
For conducting this experiment, scientists took two different kinds of skin stem cells of mice and then along with all the necessary instructions for hair they grew them in the lab until they turned into immature follicles. Once grown, these were then entrenched on the backs of shaved mice and, it was just two to three weeks later that these follicles germinated hairs. For making this research wider, the scientists besides mice stem cells, also used human stem cells over the skin of mice and succeeded in growing tufts of hair over them.
This discovery of Japanese scientists has been published in the reports of Rob Muir in the journal Nature. The stem cell technology with very soon create follicles over the bald scalps of men and will help in regenerating hair growth in them.
As told by the researchers in Tokyo, the mice that have been used in their experiment were born bald. And now with the help of this technology they are growing real strands of hair. Their hair is frequently regenerating in a normal cycle of enlargement and fall.
According to team leader, Tokyo University of Science professor Takahi Tsuji, this discovery will result into astonishing hair transplantation procedures for the bald.
