Australia Succeeds in Developing Mental Health Services

Mental-HealthIt has been revealed in a recent report that Australia is on its way successfully to provision of the best services for mentally retarded and ill people.

The report has found that the Australian government had announced the award of largest package of $2.2 billion last year for conducting new Mental Health initiatives. And the goal has almost been achieved with the rapid steps of the Medicare locals and support of the state and territory governments.

It is being said that the government has contributed its share by introducing more Personal Helpers and Mentors (PHAMs) as well as by expansion of respite services for consumers and carers.

Australia is now equipped with the National Mental Health Commission that is engaged in building the first National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Report Card. Also, EPPIC centres, developed for teenagers and young adult patients of early episodes of psychosis, are a big achievement.

While 10 new headspace centres are almost ready for young people between 12 and 25 years, another 15 are on the list of to-be-built, says the report. Further, Partners in Recovery program and Kidsmatter program along with other such attempts have been ensuring a bright future of Aussies.
