Recently, the authorities of Australia have pledged to work swiftly towards reducing the cases of unwanted pregnancies. While committing of providing contraceptive pills to ever women of Australia, the Foreign Minister, Bob Carr said, “All women have a right to basic reproductive health care and family planning advice”.

A sound family planning can also help in reducing the number of maternal mortality rates. Besides, Australia has also showed interest in raising funds of $2 billion with the aim of supporting family planning services.

With the help of Australia, about 120 million women would be provided with contraceptive pills by 2020. The efforts put by Australia would encourage other countries in taking the initiative in supporting family planning.

The Bill Gates Foundation has recently announced that it would be providing funds to the developing nation to fight with the unwanted pregnancy. The funds thus provided would be used in making the reproductive services available to women.

It is hoped that the initiative thus taken would help women in choosing their future. It would provide greater decision right to women regarding family planning. It is necessary for the developing nations to keep the population at check for better development.
