Recent reports suggest that state-run Victoria Hospital will now be providing poor patients with the same care as that provided by private hospitals in the state.
It has been reported that by the month-end, a super-specialty hospital will be inaugurated, that has been built on the site of the hospital under Pradhana Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). It will be providing the facility of
203 beds.
This Tuesday, Medical Education Minister S. A. Ramdas came to visit the newly constructed hospital, as part of investigation. He declared that the Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will be invited to the honor o inaugurating the hospital this July 27.
Mr. Ramdas stated that the out-patient department (OPD) has already been brought into operation, but the complete hospital will start running only by August.
He said, “The new hospital has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 72 crore, and it has full-fledged departments of neurology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, cardiology, paediatric surgery and surgical gastroenterology”.
It has been recovered that the center helped for the cost of the building of the new facility, by providing Rs. 53 crore.
Detailed reports suggest that the cardiac center will be looked after by under the assistance of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology.
