A member of the Health and Social Care Board has been fired from her position for sending essential documents to a third party. It has been found that media received the HSC documents via an email sent by Lily Kerr.
While it is being said that the documents were all private and confidential, Mrs. Kerr says in her defense that only one of the total papers was private. However, other documents were already open to journalists.
Also, she has been claiming that the trade union Unison was also aware of the documentary information. But, the board suspects her acts as she is a former official of the union as well.
In fact, health minister Edwin Poots has also dismissed her from the Northern Ireland Social Care Council as a chair. She had signed a four-year contract for the position in December 2010, as per the findings.
The council is a supervisory body for social carers in the region, whereas the HSCB has the responsibility of looking at commissioning services. Though, Mr. Poots appreciates Mrs. Kerr work all through, he says alongside, "I regret that the actions of Mrs. Kerr for whatever reasons she had, fell short of the standards expected by those holding public office".
