Flu taking Its TollA large number of people are said to be visiting GPs and doctors with flu like symptoms, which indicates a rise in the cases of flu. Figures provided by the Institute of Environmental Science & Research have showed that about
125 people in 100,000 people have visited doctors with flu like symptoms.

In Auckland, region called Waitemata has highest appointments with the consultants. It has come to light that A H3N2 virus has been circulating in the region for quite long. on this winter, people are trying to ward off the flu symptoms with the help of honey, lemon and ginger.

Fall of winters has also led to rise in the sales of honey and ginger. A jump of 18% and 26% in the sales of honey and ginger has been seen. Fiona Pointon, health merchandise Manager of Countdown, said, “This year, it seems people are increasingly turning to the tried-and-true remedies”. Besides, the sales of hand sanitizer, cough syrups and medicine, tissue papers and vitamin C capsules have also experienced a surge. People have been advised to take the precautions so that flu can be prevented.
