Health experts in China, especially in Beijing and Shanghai, are concerned about skin cancer cases for the figures related to the same are increasing day by day, a recent report unveils.
It is being said by experts that the disease is though preventable to some extent if proper measures are adopted. People in the country are highly unaware of adequate methods as well as often tend to go for wrong way to protect themselves.
One in every 100,000 people in the two regions in the country is found to have advanced skin cancer or melanoma. Also, the rate of occurrence of the illness has been found to be nearly five folds more than that noted five years back.
Peking University No 1 Hospital's skin cancer specialist Tu Ping says that it is because of ultraviolet rays, ultraviolet-B in particular, majorly that skin cancers are developed. Also, when it comes to protection from the same, people think avoiding tanning is a way, which is completely wrong perception. Since, a little sunlight is good for health.
"Some people are not aware of the importance of sun safety, and some others try to block out sunlight as much as possible. Both approaches are wrong", said Tu.
