A survey by the Auditor General for Wales has revealed that children in care homes in the city are suffering in terms of education and qualifications just because they are in care, as per a recent report.
However, there is improvement in the picture related to these concerns over years, says the report. A lot more is still needed to be done since general children are proving superior for no good reason. While some 1% in general population children lacks when it comes to academic qualifications, it has been found that 29% of some 5000 in care are far away from the same.
It is being said by the investigators that the situation is highly concerning since the potential of all children seems the same. Also, despite valuing education more, children in care have to compromise from higher education.
However, a wide range of policy initiatives and grant funding have been brought in front over time, but Wales specifically has been lagging behind in succeeding in this very field i. e. providing education to children in care.
Thus, it is being suggested that the government starts working with education services and bring improvements in the assessment procedure of these children, the report finds.
