Qatar has role in Washington initiative: Official
It has been forwarded by an official that a very vita role is played by Qatar in the attempts of U. S. government in helping bolster the economies of Afghanistan and Pakistan via agriculture as the country has been giving emphasis in agricultural initiatives and food security here and in the region.
As per US Ambassador Joseph LeBaron, since Qatar has shown an interest in agricultural programmes, as well as improving the food safety standards in the Middle East, it plays a vital role in the agricultural initiative of the US, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It has appeared that Qatar is to host the next Food Safety Conference at the Doha InterContinental Hotel in March with an aim to talk about how to improve food security in the region.
Deputy Minister Saleem Kunduzi, Afghanistan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, during the Agricultural Trilateral Meetings which discussed the fostering of cooperation for the rehabilitation of Afghanistan and Pakistan's economies told, "Prosperity depends on Agriculture."
He further discussed the nurturing of cooperation for the rehabilitation of Afghanistan and Pakistan's economies.
The three countries, which discussed agricultural trade corridors along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, also talked about plans aimed at improving watershed management and irrigation methods and to rehabilitate watersheds to increase crop yields and create jobs.
The economic growth in Afghanistan and Pakistan depends upon the focus areas of food security, trade corridors and water management.
