ACT Launches Online Medical Information Pilot Project

eHealthIn order to provide easy availability of medical facilities to Canberra residents, the ACT has come up with a scheme in which they will be providing online access to health information. In order to see the success of the project, the ACT has launched the scheme in the form of a pilot project, which will be combined with the PCEHR.

The system is known as My eHealth system and will allow users to have a look at their medical reports. Not only this, it will also allow users to manage their profiles as well medical appointments. The system is based on the Orion Health's consumer portal technology.

For testing the scheme, 40 patients, who are critically ill, have been enrolled as well as consumers from the Health Care Consumers Association have been taken.

Katy Gallagher, who is the Health Minister, was of the view that they have high hopes from the system. In fact, they find the system to be quite a safe method for patients, who want to remain updated about their health.

"It gives patients more control over their health records and makes using health services more convenient”, said Gallagher, the Chief Minister for the ACT.
