A link between synthetic cannabis and increased rate of violence has been found. Therefore, authorities are now planning to shun the trade of synthetic cannabis.

The Director of Otago Mental Health Nursing, Heather Casey said that emotional imbalance has been witnessed among the people consuming synthetic cannabis. Heather Casey said, "It's a huge problem. It is having a significant impact on wards".

It has come to light that the authorities are planning to bring in a temporary ban over the synthetic cannabis. During the ban, it would be gauged whether the use of synthetic cannabis is actually causing an increase in the violence rates.

People have already been advised not to consume or use the synthetic cannabis. Although the product is legal, people need to take adequate steps to ensure healthy living. In most the cases, teens have been found using the synthetic cannabis. However, adults in the age group of 20s and 30s are also taking the synthetic cannabis. By next year, a permanent ban over synthetic cannabis could be implemented.
