Israel’s Medical Cannabis Industry sees Expansion

IsraelIsrael has witnessed a dramatic rise in marijuana users, who have been given permission to take it in the form of medicine.

Experts said that there were hundreds of people, who were given permission by the government to smoke marijuana in 2005. However, since then the number has crossed 10,000. In such a scenario, it would not be wrong to say that the medical cannabis industry has been expanding in Israel.

There are many factors, which have led to the expansion. Some of the many factors are strong research sector of medicine in Israel and government's encouragement. The back-up being provided by the country for the growth of the sector is unparallel, and was not seen in countries like the United States and other parts of Europe.

It may be so, as Israel is not making a controversy over the expansion of the sector. Moreover, it is not letting the country's leadership to be affected by the swell up of the sector. It shall also be noted though the marijuana is illegal in Israel; its use for medical purposes is allowed.

"When push comes to shove, and people see how suffering people are benefitting, I'm sure everyone will get behind it", said Yuli Edelstein, who is Israeli Minister of Public Diplomacy.
