HH Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad inaugurated the exhibition "Pearl" at the Museum of Islamic Art that would showcase rare pearl from collectors in the World besides manifesting the pearl diving heritage of the Arabian Gulf. A galaxy of VIPs, members of the diplomatic corps and distinguished visitors were also present on the occasion.
HE Sheikh Hassan Bin Mohammed al-Thani, Vice-chairman of Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) said that it is a unique experience for the authority celebrating Doha as the Capital of Arab Culture 2010.
Sheikh Hassan further added, "A year after the establishment of the Museum of Islamic Art, we are proud to be achieving regional and international recognition as a cultural centre of excellence."
The Pearls exhibition has been divided into seven segments for ushering in to a scientific, historical and cultural journey into the World of pearls. The highly decorated Indian Baroda carpet made in 1865 for the Maharaja of Baroda would also be showcased at the event.
