YouTube Crosses One Billion Users Mark!

YouTube-logoOne billion regular users for YouTube! The video sharing site by Google has crossed a landmark. This rise in regular users has been attributed to smartphones. This tool has increased the number of visitors on the site.

The company said that approximately one out of every two people on the Internet visits YouTube. It also shed light on the business potential of such a big audience. It mentioned, “Tens of thousands of partners have created channels that have found and built businesses for passionate, engaged audiences. Advertisers have taken notice”.

The company also highlighted that the top 100 brands listed by trade magazine ‘Advertising Age’ were carrying out campaigns on YouTube. A number of channels including the significant ones have their presence on the site.

YouTube was launched in 2005.Google bought it in 2006. According to Google, YouTube’s popularity is beneficial for the company. It sells, advertises, and carries out various businesses on this platform. Google had paid $1.76bn (£1.16bn) for the site. YouTube had approximately 30 to 40 million users throughout the world when Google bought it.

YouTube has been providing tough competition to Facebook, the internet's largest social network. Facebook has already crossed one billion mark. YouTube has become a significant platform for the users.
