Consuming alcoholic beverages might lead to increased chances of getting prostate cancer, Lionel L. Bañez, MD, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N. C. and colleagues stated post research.

It was stated that among men there was a 2.46 times more chances of getting prostate cancer if they had three drinks regularly every week.

About 334 men undergoing prostate biopsy at Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center from 2007 to 2009 were enrolled for a study.

It was found that there were five times more chances among American for developing the cancer and Caucasians had 85 per cent more chances of acquiring the disease if they drank that much of alcohol. Genetic make up is responsible for this according to the researchers.
