Abu Dhabi is ready to host the latest edition of Abu Dhabi International Triathlon (ADIT) from Saturday. The event will see around 800 athletes from 30 countries landing in the country for taking part in the World class sporting endeavor.
The event originally launched in November 2009, has been remained attraction among regional and international players. ADIT attracted many athletes from USA, UK, Finland, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zeeland.
ADIT has turned one of the leading triathlon in 2010 which indicates the growing importance of Arab World in the athletics events. Around 340 regionally-based athletes from Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have participated in the event so far.
Faisal Al Sheikh, Head - Major Events Division, ADTA told, "This event will set the benchmark for triathlon. With its unique competition distances, world-class field and carefully designed city route, we are extremely confident ADIT will earn 'instant classic' status by Saturday evening."
Faris Al Sultan, captain of the seven-strong outfit and 2005 Ironman World Champion hailed the role played by ADIT for developing the sports in the Middle-East and hoped that the Emirate would emerge as a leading winter training base.
