Lung Cancer and COPR Deaths to Increase in Next 2 Decades

Lung-CancerAs per a report carried out by the European Respiratory Society, it has been unveiled that deaths taking place from lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are going to increase in next two decades.

One of the other things that have been unveiled by the report is that one in 10 deaths taking place in Europe is from lung disease. Experts were of the view that smoking is one of the reasons for the lung condition.

Despite knowing the cause, there is quite little that is done to prevent the cause. In order to come up with the report, the report makers have used the data that has been taken from the World Health Organization and from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

The report has been publsihed in the European Lung White Book, a publication. Denmark, Hungary and Ireland are some of the places where death rate from lung disease is high. The death rate is high irrespective of the fact that smoking rate has declined by a significant rate.

Experts said that the death rate is high as the study is showing the long-term effects of the smoking habit. "Both the prevention and treatment of lung diseases will need to be improved if their impact on longevity, quality of life of individuals and economic burden on society are to be reduced", said experts.
