Ford to commemorate Mustang’s 50th anniversary with a limited-edition Mustang GT

FordOn Thursday, April 17, 2014, the Ford Mustang celebrates its 50th birthday --- it was on this day in 1964 that the Mustang first rolled off assembly lines in Detroit and California. Over the last 50 years of Mustang's availability on the market, Ford has, till now, sold nearly 9 million Mustangs.

To commemorate the Mustang's 50th anniversary, Ford has announced that it is manufacturing a limited-edition Mustang GT. Less than 2,000 units of the 50-year limited-edition of the Mustang GT will be manufactured by automaker.

The limited-edition Mustang GT will come in one of the two colors of the Ford logo --- white or blue. The special model will boast exclusive chrome highlights around the grille, windows as well as tail lights.

Moreover, the 50-year limited-edition model of the Mustang GT will also be the only 2015 Mustang which will have a faux gas cap badge on the rear; the place at which the original cap was positioned.

Despite the fact that Ford has thus far not divulged the expected cost of the 50-year limited-edition Mustang GT, it is being reported that the special model will likely go into production later this year.
