Uber Riders Complain About New Year Price SurgesNew Year's Eve, is fun time for sure but at the end of the party when it's time to head back home, the New Year tradition includes complaining about the exorbitant charges that Uber demands.

Things were no different on Friday, as the ride share users across the world posted screen grabs of the extra-ordinarily nightmare charges for the rides.

It's a trend with Uber to permit the prices go up when the demand is high. The company says it helps in keeping more number of drivers on the road.

The company said on its website, the surge pricing is necessary to ensure reliability stating, "At times of high demand, the number of drivers we can connect you with becomes limited."

Reportedly, the company also said that they do not have a particular cap on how high the increase can go.

Some of the Uber users feel that a surge in prices like that is taking too much advantage of the situation. On Thursday, before the celebrations started, an email from Uber sent out some tips to its users regarding the busiest times and the likely possibilities of the price surge.
