Etihad Airways launches Airbus A380 in Indian market
Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has launched its official Airbus A380 in the Indian market with much fanfare linked to that country's colourful film industry, which is popularly known as Bollywood.
The airbus was launchedwith a Bollywood-style flash mob including a dance and music show. The performance was choreographed by Terence Lewis and included cabin crew from Etihad Airways and strategic partner Jet Airways joining the members of the entertainer's dance troupe in the performance. The airline said in a statement that the event for the formal launch of Airbus A380 was organised on Wednesday.
A number of senior government officials and diplomats and leading figures from business houses and the travel trade industry attended the event that was hosted by Etihad Airways management from head office in Abu Dhabi and Mumbai. The event also had a surprise element as some members of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Mumbai Indians joined the celebratory event.
The guests were given a complete display of interiors of the aircraft allowing them to experience the comfort and ambience of the A380 cabins. The cabins included The Residence, which is a three-room suite in the air featuring a living room, ensuite shower room, double bedroom with a butler, a first apartment and business studio.
The airline is offering daily scheduled flights between Abu Dhabi and Mumbai.
