HTC starts rolling out Android Nougat update for unlocked HTC 10

In an announcement made on Thursday, device maker HTC said that it has commenced the rollout of the Android 7.0 'Nougat' update for the unlocked version of its flagship handset --- the HTC 10. The move, the company said, was a Thanksgiving's Day treat for HTC 10 users.

According to an NDTV report, HTC said in its Thursday announcement that the users of the unlocked HTC 10 handset in the US will start getting the Android Nougat update with effect from Friday, November 25.

In announcing that Android Nougat is rolling out for unlocked HTC 10, Mo Versi - HTC's VP of Product Management - said on Thursday: "Happy Thanksgiving! HTC 10 unlocked owners will receive Nougat OS update tomorrow morning! Enjoy!"

The official announcement of the rollout of Android Nougat to the unlocked HTC 10 handset comes within days of online rumors which suggested that the handset will likely get the Nougat update by the end of November.

HTC had itself said in an earlier-this-year announcement that the company's first handset to get its series of Android 7.0 Nougat update will be HTC 10. However, since the company's latest announcement has revealed that the Android Nougat update is being rolled out to unlocked HTC 10, it is apparent that, as of now, the users of the locked version or carrier version of HTC 10 will not be receiving the update.
