Samsung and T-Mobile launches 'Vibrant'

Samsung-VibrantSouth Korean electronics major, Samsung along with telecom operator, T-Mobile launched the 'Samsung Vibrant' Smartphone other wise called Samsung Galaxy S in a small event in New York city.

The T-Mobile version of device has been named Vibrant in a effort to differentiate it from others. Samsung will sell the device on the networks of AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless.

The device stands apart from other versions because of the high-quality multimedia apps that will be offered by the operator.

Vibrant is similar to iPhone 3G/3GS and it is black in color with a silver band around it. The smartphone feels light when carried as it weighs only 4.16 ounces. It has a smooth plastic backing with appealing Samsung-esque design.

The Android powered device has capacitive touch controls on the front offering usual Menu, Home, Back, Search access like other devices on the platform. It has a volume control on the left side and a power/lock key on the right. It also features a
3.5mm headset jack on top and a microSD card under the battery cover.

The 4-inch display screen similar to other Galaxy S versions with Samsung's Super AMOLED display technology offers bright, sharp, and colorful display.It is powered by the same
1GHz Hummingbird processor and has similar other features like 5-megapixel camera.

Samsung and T-Mobile have also preloaded the movie Avatar on the smartphone. Vibrant runs on Android 2.1 Eclair with Samsung's TouchWiz 3.0 UI.

The Samsung Vibrant will be priced at $200 with a two-year contract from T-mobile.
