‘Operational reasons’ lead to delay in FlyDubai’s India foray

It has been decided by the low-cost Dubai-based carrier FlyDubai, which was supposed to begin its operations in India from July 13, to delay its operations there due to operational reasons.

Flydubai CEO Al Ghaith said in a statement: "Flydubai had planned to begin its operations to India with flight to Lucknow on July 13, Coimbatore on July 14 and Chandigarh on July 23, however, due to operational issues; we have had to delay these flights."

The airline, which presently operates flights between Dubai and Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Egypt, was to start its services between Dubai and Lucknow, and Coimbatore and Chandigarh.

On July 13, its first flight to Lucknow was scheduled; whereas on July 14, it was to start its operation for Coimbatore; and for Chandigarh from July 24.

Al Ghaith said: "We understand that this is very inconvenient for the passengers who have booked flights with us to India and we apologize for the disruption and disappointment caused."

All the passengers, who had reserved their tickets on its three flights to India, would be contacted and they would be given repayment. Moreover, they would be provided with a voucher for a free return flight to India or anywhere on the Flydubai network, which would be valid for travel by the end of November 2009.
