Gas project deals worth $9 bln awarded by UAE’s Gasco

Contracts for the major gas projects in the Gulf emirate were awarded by Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd (Gasco) valued at about $9 billion.

Consortium of Japan's JGC Corp (1963. T: Quote, Profile, Research) and Italy's Maire Tecnimont got contracts worth 17.3 billion dirham ($4.7 billion)

Where as the South Korea's Hyundai Engineering and Construction were given contract for gas facilities for 5 gas complex at Habshan and for the natural gas facility at the Ruwais plant contract worth $2.1 billion was awarded to a consortium of Petrofac and South Korea's GS Construction and Engineering.

The U. S. firm CB&I got contract worth $533 million for the storage facilities of propane, butane and pentane.

Gasco expects all the projects to be completed by 2013.

ADNOC owns 68 percent of Gasco where as the rest is jointly owned by Royal Dutch Shell, Total and Partex.

According to Gasco last year it invested $25 billion in gas processing plants and pipelines.

As world's fifth-largest oil and gas reserves are with Abu Dhabi.
