Porn industry clinic comes under srutinyFor its handling of a new HIV case in an adult film performer, a private San Fernando Valley clinic that caters to the porn industry has come under scrutiny. According to critics, clinic officials have been alleged of not cooperating with health officials and not disclosing details.

Releasing details are not allowed by privacy rules, as stated by the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation. But critics added that how the clinic is shielded from industry scrutiny is highlighted by the case.

Getting shielded from scrutiny by the industry that funds it has also been pointed by some longtime observers who said that the latest case highlights how the clinic's managers have been left to regulate themselves.

Lawyers for the Sherman Oaks-based Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation, also known as AIM, said, “Medical privacy laws bar the clinic from releasing details about the case, including the performer's gender or work history, or when the positive test came back.”

It was also refused by them to state that due to potential exposure how many porn performers have been quarantined.

The new case was not reported by clinic officials by Thursday to state or Los Angeles County health officials.
