Samsung Engineering Co., South Korea’s largest plant builder, has won a contract from National Industrial Gases Co. (NIGC), a unit of the state-run Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) to build a chemical plant in eastern Saudi Arabia.
Under the arrangement, Samsung will engage in the whole process of the project ranging from licensing and design to procurement and construction. The plant, which will be located at NIGC's facility in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, will be completed by 2011.
Sabic is one of the world’s 10 largest petrochemicals manufacturers ranked by market capitalization. The upcoming plant will have a daily production capacity of 3,550 tons of oxygen, 3,600 tons of nitrogen and 150 tons of argon gas.
However, the company did not disclose the financial details regarding the deal.
