Total 300 types of sausages are on sale in the supermarkets but maximum of them have scored badly, according to the Consensus Action on Salt and Health.
According to the reports, it was found that 97 per cent of the available sausages that are being sold in Britain contain more salt than a packet of crisps, whereas 81 percent sausages fall foul of incoming health regulations and 32 percent fail to meet the current target for salt content.
Also, the reports highlighted that the brand's skinless variety contains 2.3g (0.08oz) of salt per 100g (3.5oz), while their thick and thin product has 2.2g per 100g, which means that eating three Richmond skinless bangers currently would account for approx 70 percent of the recommended daily intake of 6g (0.2oz).
The government has set its new target for next year to make it to 1.13g per 100g.
Upon seeing the results of the study, Prof Graham MacGregor, of Cash said that the current scandalous levels such as increasing level of salt can easily put a person up our blood pressure, leading to strokes and heart disease. "We are leading the world in salt reduction but whilst there are food manufacturers filling our favorite foods such as sausages with salt, our health is at risk."
