NMDC, leading mining firm has recorded disappointing results for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009.

The company as posted a dip of 18% in its net profit which stood at Rs 771 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2009.

In the comparable period a year before, the company has registered a net profit of Rs 944.93 crore.

Total income of the company has witnessed a downward trend to Rs 1,565.76 crore during the reporting period, as compared to Rs 1,857.27 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2008.

For the half year ended September, NMDC has reported a net profit of Rs 1,544.60 crore, down 20% over that in the year-ago period.

Company's income from operations came down to Rs 2,668.18 crore during the six month period, from Rs 3,290.47 crore in the year ago period.

Scrip of NMDC Ltd settled the day in green at Rs 317, up 2.22% on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The total volume of shares traded on BSE was 35,668.
