DU to Invest 2.5 Billion Dirhams to Boost Service

Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co., a Dubai - based company, popularly known as ‘Du’ is planning a nationwide network expansion with a whopping 2.5 billion Dirhams as investment in the following year after they witnessed a record profit by nearly doubling their quarterly turnover.

It is reported that their third – quarter profit improved to 78.55 million Dirhams which amounts to $21.4 million. Du, which has been competing with fellow provider Emirates Telecommunications Corp., is looking to increase the surge in their profits by targeting customers who are more into downloads and services like high – speed Internet connection along with its usual mobile and Web services.

While the revenue has increased by about 26 per cent, the percentage of active mobile subscribers has surged by a good 51 per cent in the first nine months. Considering the time period, which was summer, quite a slow time of activity owing to Ramadan, the increase is actually phenomenal, especially in that particular time.

However, the reports suggest that this exceptional profit was inline to the various surveys and polls conducted and forecasted by experts, which was an average 177.4 per cent leap in that quarter.
