Smoke alarm use to increase by Fire Service record

To save lives in homes across the region, West Midlands Fire Service is using the power of R n' B music for doing so.
In the West Midlands in homes without a smoke alarm either fitted or working, there are nearly 4,000 household fires every year.
A record has been produced which has been written by one of its firefighters in the battle to increase awareness and save lives.
US advisory approval for lupus drug

After its experimental drug for lupus cleared a pivotal hurdle to authorization, shares in GlaxoSmithKline rose on Wednesday.
There were restrictions recommended and post-launch there were tough scrutiny by an expert advisory committee of the Food and Drug Administration that voted by 13 to 2 in favor of approving Benlysta for use in the US.

Alzheimer's patients no longer need to take medication, not atleast when they walk into this room that has a Bakelite telephone, an old-fashioned wireless, a manual typewriter, 1950s furniture and a proper tea tray.
Well if you think that this was a museum then think twice because it is not as this set-up has been made to help people suffering from Alzheimer's.
High blood pressure can be lowered by kidney procedure

Researchers stated that blood pressure can be reduced sharply in people who can not control hypertension with medicines by a simple surgical procedure meant for destroying certain nerves in the kidney.
There were 52 people on whom the study was conducted and despite the fact that they were taking five hypertension medications, their blood pressure averaged 178/96.
British man is first to take stem cell trial

In an attempt to repair damage caused by stroke, stem cells were injected in a British man's brain for the first time in the world. The test was made for testing safety of a new therapy meant fro stroke damage.
The safety of a new stem cell therapy for the treatment of ischaemic stroke is the main purpose of this early experimental trial.
Improvement shown in cancer care in England

According to a report by the National Audit Office, NHS cancer care in England is getting better but further improvements are being held back by a lack of reliable statistics, NAO warns.
In 2008-09, the total cost NHS had to bear of cancer was £6.3bn in England.
