Australian Nursing Federation Launches Campaign against Violence in Hospitals

On Sunday, the Australian Nursing Federation launched a campaign against the violence faced by nurses in hospitals.
About two dozen attacks were reported against nurses in last four months, said Lisa Fitzpatrick, the Victorian Branch Secretary of the federation. Nurse Jackie said the casual threats were part of their lives.
H7N9 Outbreak Costs Poultry Industry over 400 Billion Yuan

According to recent reports from the government officials, the H7N9 bird flu outbreak has incurred cost of over 400 billion yuan to the poultry industry of the country.
Li Xirong, the Head of the National Animal Husbandry Service, said that an average of about one billion yuan a day is being lost by the sector since the end of March. The condition has affected about 130 people across China.
CD52 Protein Able to Control Immune Activity

They asserted that the protein can be used to treat the auto autoimmune disorders like multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Professor Len Harrison, the Study Leader from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, said that the team found that the protein was helpful in preventing type 1 diabetes in mice.
Researchers Say Ginger Can Ease Effects of Asthma

As per claims made by a new study, a blend of asthma drugs with ginger can turn them more effective. The researchers detected that the components of the peppery root act together with the medicine called the beta-agonists for calming down the airways.
It was discovered that the addition of the ginger compounds to the medicine increased the relaxation of airway smooth muscle tissue samples in the laboratory trials.
Rise in Number of e-Cigarette Smokers

According to latest data, the number of regular users of e-cigarettes was reported to be 600,000 at the beginning of 2013 but the number has risen to over a million within months.
The gadgets are available widely in supermarkets across the nation. They were initially designed to help the smokers quit the unhealthy habit but now it has been seen that these are prompting even the children to take up the habit.
SDB may be Linked to Alzheimer's: Research

According to reports, a new research has found a link between Alzheimer's disease and a disorder called sleep-disordered breathing (SDB).
The researchers say that the problem may be an early sign of the dementia. The term SDB refers to conditions that have impact on breathing during sleep. Most common of these is obstructive sleep apnoea.
IBRC liquidators get four months to sell €27 billion loan book

The special liquidators Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC) have been given a period of four months to sell its the €27 billion loan book.
The state-run bank went into liquidation on 7 February, 2013 and the government had said that the loans would be sold by August and any assets not sold till that time would be transferred to the National Asset Management Agency for sale over time.
