Wednesday saw an Obama administration official confirming that if the Middle East nation were to violate any terms of the deal, then the U. S. would cancel a nuclear energy agreement with the United Arab Emirates.

Lawmakers were tried to be convinced by Ellen Tauscher, undersecretary of state for arms control and international security, who said that pact has been created to preserve sensitive technology from flowing to Iran or allowing the UAE to develop atomic weapons.

With the aim to allow the U. S. to share nuclear technology with the United Arab Emirates, official backing was given to an agreement by President Barack Obama recently. The move is seen as part of his broader push to encourage and efficiently deal with nuclear power worldwide.

If adhered to the media reports, the agreement could mean billions of dollars for American power companies competing to build the U. A. E.'s first fleet of nuclear reactors.
