Ministers say health system is failing brain tumour patients

A new report from a group of MPs has said that the health service in the United Kingdom is failing brain tumour patients and their families for decades.

The ministers said in the report that the patients are let down at every stage starting from diagnosis and treatment to research funding. The Petitions Committee said that it has serious doubts if the Department of Health has realised the seriousness of the issue in the health system.

Old Mutual Shares Drop as it Confirms Splitting Its Business

On Friday, share prices of Old Mutual dropped six percent or more as the company confirmed its plans of separating its activities into four different business units. The four new businesses will be split into Nedbank, OM Asset Management, Old Mutual Emerging Markets (OMEM) and its UK wealth business.

According to Old Mutual the separation in businesses will be done in such a way that it will maximize value to shareholders along with leaving enough room for the different businesses to expand further.

Ministers have indicated that they will debate introduction of vacancies for the disease after 809,000 people signed a petition calling urging them to take action.The petition recommends government to make sure that all children up to the age of 11 get the Meningitis B vaccine and not just new born babies. It is the biggest petition of kits kind on government website.
