Cars Sales Rise 23% in OctoberAs compared to sales of sedans in October last year, this year the sales grew by 23% to 1,72,459 units in the same month. The figure was reported highest in last 22-months.

As per the data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the increase in the two-wheeler sales was calculated to be 12%, with 12,85,015 units sold in October. The number was recorded to be 11,44,716 units in
2011. The total sales of commercial vehicles rose by 7.59% to 66,722 in the month which was found to be 62,013 units last year in the same month.

Happy with rise in sales, Vishnu Mathur, the Director-General SIAM said that next month is expected to quite critical in the terms of sales. The festive season offers, which began in September, played an important part taking up the sales.

Sales are further expected to reach the peak by Diwali. "There is some cheer, but the struggle is still on. Next month will be quite critical for us. We will have to see whether this growth continues or comes down", said Mr. Mathur in his statement.

Albeit the sales grew over the period, but commercial vehicles' sale was still a matter of concern as the purchases were lower from industries like mining, real estate and road infrastructure.
