Senior Nurse Faces Allegations of Ill-treating Patients

Senior Nurse Faces Allegations of Ill-treating PatientsNine allegations have been leveled against a senior nurse as he was recently reported to have ill-treated his patients.

Howard Griffiths from Ebbw Vale had been working at the Rozelle nursing home in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. He was found misbehaving with a dementia patient.

This is not for the first time that he has been reported to abuse his patients. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) was shocked to find him laughing in front of his junior colleagues.

He reportedly abused his patients physically as well as verbally. Verbal abuse has varied from spitting, shouting to even swearing at residents.

One of the physical abuse cases also includes pulling the skirt of his patient while picking her from ground. Another reported instance includes his pulling of his patient from hair. He has also been found undressing one of his patients and further pulled her with her night dress.

The evidence has been provided by five care assistants who have worked under Griffiths. After three-day hearing, the panel appointed for the same found the allegations to be true. Till now, the proceedings have taken place in Griffith's absence.

According to the panel, "He grossly abused his position of trust. His behavior was a very serious departure from the relevant professional standards".
