2011-12 Witnessed Maximum Child Births Since 1972, reveals ONS Report

Child-BirthsThe Office for National Statistics (ONS) has taken out a report as per which, 2011-12 has witnessed maximum child births since 1972.

The ONS has unveiled that 813,200 births took place in the above mentioned year. The contribution to the population growth was the highest in the EU between 2011 and 2012.

It was the time when a number of other things took place. To cite some figures, it has been found that 254,400 more births took place than deaths. Not only this, it has been found that 165,600 more people came to the UK than the number of people who left the country.

With passage of time, rise has been witnessed in the population of London. As per figures, there has been a rise by 104,000 in terms of country's population. Another thing that has been unveiled is that London remains to be the most populous country in EU member state after France and Germany.

There are a number of reasons for the rise in the population. Alp Mehmet from Migration Watch was of the view that immigration is the main reason for the rise.

"We will continue to work hard to bring net migration down from the hundreds of thousands to the tens of thousands by the end of this Parliament", said a spokesman from Home Office.
