Amazon to Recruit over 1,500 Extra Staff for Christmas Job in UK
In 2012, Amazon has hired 5,000 extra staff for Christmas job. This year, it has announced to hire over 15,000 people across the UK for the same.
The staff will be recruited in the eight fulfillment centres across the UK. Some of the many centers are in Doncaster, Gourock, Hemel Hempstead, Peterborough, Staffordshire and Milton Keynes.
With this, the online retailer has affirmed that the temporary staff will be able to get permanent jobs as well.
"On our busiest shopping day last Christmas, customers ordered a total of 3.5 million items during one 24-hour period at a rate of 44 items a second", said Catherine McDermott, Director of Operations at Amazons.
With this, it has become clear that the online retailer has been expanding operations in the country. As it has been said that many people on temporary jobs will be recruited on permanent basis, the company has affirmed that they are creating different profiles.
By coming up with the different profiles, people working on different fields will be able to get jobs. Catherine McDermott, Director of Operations at Amazon. co. uk, has affirmed that Christmas season is quite busy one. This is the reason that they need to recruit more staff.
