Vaseline releases Face app that lightens profile picture
Skincare Company, Vaseline has launched an app on social networking site Facebook for whitening their skin on their pictures on the site. The new app has aroused much interest around the world and draws attention to the subjective and cultural reasons that makes people lighter skin is better.
The app has been launched to promote its new skin-whitening cream that claims to be able to reduce five types of dark spots on the face. The add headline reads, "Transform your face on Facebook with Vaseline men." It promises to make you more handsome and more eligible.
The users of Facebook can download the app and adjust their photographs. The Vaseline Men Facebook page already has more than 500 fans.
Pankaj Parihar of Omnicom, the advertising firm behind the campaign says that the campaign is a success. "We started campaign advertising (for the application) from the second week of June and the response has been pretty phenomenal," he said.
The skin-whitening industry segment in the cosmetics industry in the country is growing rapidly and is now worth billions of dollars. The demand for such creams is not only seen in urban users but also rural inhabitants.
