Irritable Bowel Syndrome cause out soon
Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS, has always been a topic of discussion for experts as no cause for it has been found out. About 10 to 20 per cent of people are affected by this disorder and constipation, diarrhea and pain in the abdomen is caused.
A lot has been linked to the disease like hormonal changes, stress and food allergies but no clear cause has been identified by doctors for IBS. No treatment has yet been designed to ward off the disease.
Dr. Mark Pimentel of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and other researchers from several university hospitals have started thinking that the root cause of IBS will be known soon.
An antibiotic in the past has been successful as doctors have stated. Additional evidence has stated that bacterial infection is the reason for IBS.
About 1,258 IBS patients were given in two identical clinical trials, were given rifaximin, an antibiotic, for about two weeks, three times a day. And one group was given a placebo. After an additional 10-week period, patients were evaluated and it was seen that the antibiotic given gave significant relief to about 41 per cent of people.
